Yankees spanked by Rangers at New Yankee Stadium

The Texas Rangers crushed the New York Yankees yesterday at New Yankee Stadium with the Rangers coming out on top 10 to 3. It was a solid match that aficionados with Rangers tickets won’t soon forget.

Rangers pitcher Derek Holland (2.61 ERA) got the win, while A.J. Burnett (7.50 ERA) took the loss for the Yankees. Tommy Hunter went 3.1 innings for the Rangers, allowed 5 hits, one home run and 3 earned runs with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Rangers was Darren O’Day (3.38), and Clay Rapada (0.00). The Yankees’s starter A.J. Burnett went 6 innings, allowed 6 hits, one home run and 5 earned runs with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. David Robertson (15.00), Boone Logan (10.80), Joba Chamberlain (2.70), and Sergio Mitre (10.13) also pitched for the Yankees. With the win, Holland’s record goes to 1-0, while Burnett is at 0-1. Darren Oliver earned the save for the Rangers, bringing his saves up to 1.

In addition to the 10 runs, the Rangers scored 13 hits and committed no errors. Vladimir Guerrero led the Rangers in hitting with 4 hits, followed by Bengie Molina’s 3 hits, and Josh Hamilton with 2. The Yankees didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Nick Swisher could not get much going at the plate as he left 5 runners on base. The Yankees scored 3 runs, 7 hits and no errors.
