The New York Yankees challenged the the Toronto Blue Jays yesterday at Rogers Centre with the Yankees earning the win 11 to 5. You don’t often see such high scoring games, and anyone with Blue Jays tickets sure got their money’s worth. This high-scoring game saw the teams combine for a whopping 16 runs! Yankees pitcher Dustin Moseley (4.53 ERA) got the win, while Marc Rzepczynski (6.31 ERA) took the loss for the Blue Jays. Dustin Moseley went 6 innings for the Yankees, allowed 5 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Yankees was Chad Gaudin (5.98), and Kerry Wood (4.26). The Blue Jays’s starter Marc Rzepczynski went 3 innings, allowed 8 hits, 3 home runs and 6 earned runs with 2 walks and one strikeout. Brian Tallet (6.21), Casey Janssen (3.72), and Jesse Carlson (2.45) also pitched for the Blue Jays. With the win, Moseley’s record goes to 4-2, while Rzepczynski is at 1-2.
In addition to the 11 runs, the Yankees scored 17 hits and committed no errors. Jorge Posada and Mark Teixeira tied for most hits for the Yankees with 4 hits, followed by Curtis Granderson with 3 hits. Derek Jeter had a tough day at the plate, leaving 5 runners on base. The Blue Jays didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Aaron Hill could not get much going at the plate as he left 5 runners on base. The Blue Jays got 5 runs, 9 hits and no errors.
