Royals Lose Close One To Yankees

The New York Yankees got a tough win over the Kansas City Royals yesterday at New Yankee Stadium with the Yankees picking up the W 4 to 3. It was one heck of a game that folks with Yankees tickets aren’t likely to forget. Baseball isn’t the only game in town. See what other cheap sports tickets are out there.

Yankees pitcher Brian Bruney (4.03 ERA) got the win, while Kyle Farnsworth (4.58 ERA) took the loss for the Royals. A.J. Burnett went 6.1 solid innings for the Yankees, allowed 3 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Yankees was Phil Coke (4.63), and David Robertson (3.24). The Royals’s starter Anthony Lerew went 6 innings, allowed 5 hits, 2 home runs and 2 earned runs with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Dusty Hughes (4.15), and Juan Cruz (5.80) also pitched for the Royals. With the win, Bruney’s record goes to 5-0, while Farnsworth is at 1-5.

In addition to the 4 runs, the Yankees scored 9 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Yankees, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Johnny Damon had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Royals didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. John Buck could not get much going at the plate as he left 5 runners on base. The Royals managed 3 runs, 5 hits and 2 errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Jerry Layne, Tom Hallion, Tony Randazzo and Chris Guccione. There were 44,794 Yankees ticket holders in attendance at New Yankee Stadium.

The win puts the Yankees at a record of 102-56, still leading their division, while the loss brings the Royals to 64-94, (20.5 games behind first place in the division). The Royals will try to get a game back from the Yankees tomorrow. There are still plenty of tickets available so take a look.
