Rangers take close one from Yankees

The Texas Rangers beat the New York Yankees in 10 innings yesterday in a hard-fought game of baseball. You never know what you’re going to see at a baseball game, and an MLB extra-innings game is always a possibility. It was one heck of a game that folks with Rangers tickets aren’t likely to forget.

Rangers pitcher Neftali Feliz (3.35 ERA) got the win, while Mariano Rivera (1.09 ERA) took the loss for the Yankees. C.J. Wilson went 5.1 innings for the Rangers, allowed 5 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Rangers was Darren O’Day (1.18), Darren Oliver (2.30), Alexi Ogando (1.14), and Frank Francisco (3.75). The Yankees’s starter A.J. Burnett went 7 innings, allowed 6 hits, one home run and 3 earned runs with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Boone Logan (2.96), and David Robertson (3.95) also pitched for the Yankees. With the win, Feliz’s record goes to 3-2, while Rivera is at 3-2.

In addition to the 4 runs, the Rangers scored 9 hits and committed 3 errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Rangers, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. The Yankees didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Yankees managed 3 runs, 9 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Mike Estabrook, Paul Emmel, Bill Hohn and Gary Darling. There were 46,121 Rangers ticket holders in attendance at Rangers Ballpark.
