Orioles edge Yankees by 1

The Baltimore Orioles beat the New York Yankees in 11 innings yesterday in a hard-fought game of baseball. At a baseball game anything could happen, and an MLB extra-innings game is always a possibility. It was a thrilling night of baseball that anyone with Orioles tickets will definitely cherish. Orioles pitcher Mike Gonzalez (4.79 ERA) got the win, while David Robertson (3.72 ERA) took the loss for the Yankees. Chris Tillman went 3.2 innings for the Orioles, allowed 3 hits, no home runs and 3 earned runs with 6 walks and one strikeout. Also pitching for the Orioles was Matt Albers (4.31), Mark Hendrickson (4.90), Jim Johnson (4.66), and Koji Uehara (3.08). The Yankees’s starter Andy Pettitte went 6 innings, allowed 3 hits, no home runs and one earned run with one walk and 2 strikeouts. Joba Chamberlain (4.45), Boone Logan (2.65), Kerry Wood (3.24), and Mariano Rivera (1.45) also pitched for the Yankees. With the win, Gonzalez’s record goes to 1-3, while Robertson falls to 4-5.

In addition to the 4 runs, the Orioles managed 10 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Orioles, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Robert Andino had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Yankees didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Derek Jeter could not get much going at the plate as he left 6 runners on base. The Yankees mustered 3 runs, 8 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Paul Nauert, Brian Gorman, Ted Barrett and Tony Randazzo. There were 39,537 Orioles ticket holders in attendance at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
