Blue Jays pitcher Roy Halladay (3.03 ERA) got the win, while Sergio Mitre (7.63 ERA) took the loss for the Yankees. Roy Halladay went 6 innings for the Blue Jays, allowed 11 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with one walk and 6 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Blue Jays was Jesse Carlson (4.43), Jeremy Accardo (2.84), Scott Downs (2.74), and Brandon League (4.98). The Yankees’s starter Sergio Mitre went 5 innings, allowed 8 hits, 4 home runs and 7 earned runs with one walk and 2 strikeouts. Edwar Ramirez (5.73), Mark Melancon (3.86), and Michael Dunn (6.75) also pitched for the Yankees. With the win, Halladay’s record goes to 15-9, while Mitre falls to 3-3.
In addition to the 10 runs, the Blue Jays managed 13 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Blue Jays, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. The Yankees didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Johnny Damon could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Yankees mustered 4 runs, 15 hits and no errors.
Umpiring duties were performed by Jim Joyce, Greg Gibson, Bill Miller and Derryl Cousins. There were 45,847 Yankees ticket holders in attendance at New Yankee Stadium.
